Nurse Educator (RN)

Personal Care & Memory Care Community
Location: Pennsylvania
Reports To: Administrator

Position Summary

The Nurse Educator (RN) is responsible for the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of clinical education, orientation, and competency programs for staff in a Personal Care and Memory Care setting. This role ensures that nursing and care staff maintain required competencies, comply with regulatory standards, and provide safe, high-quality, person-centered care.

The Nurse Educator collaborates with nursing staff (RNs, LPNs, Medication Technicians, and Nursing Assistants) and the interdisciplinary team, including Physical Therapy, Dietary, and Activities, and plays an integral role in regulatory compliance, survey preparedness, and quality improvement initiatives.

Essential Functions

Education & Staff Development

  • Develop, implement, and oversee a comprehensive new employee orientation program
  • Plan and deliver ongoing clinical education and training for:
    • Registered Nurses (RNs)
    • Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs)
    • Medication Technicians
    • Nursing Assistants
  • Design and maintain education curricula, in-services, skills fairs, and competency validation programs
  • Conduct and document initial, annual, and remedial competencies
  • Serve as a clinical education resource and provide staff support across all shifts, including evenings, nights, and weekends as operationally necessary

Policies, Procedures & Clinical Protocols

  • Develop, review, revise, and implement clinical policies, procedures, and protocols
  • Ensure staff education aligns with organizational policies, evidence-based practice, and regulatory requirements
  • Promote consistent clinical standards and best practices throughout the community

Regulatory Compliance & Survey Readiness

  • Maintain current knowledge of state and federal regulations applicable to Personal Care and Memory Care
  • Participate in survey preparation, mock surveys, staff education, and corrective action planning
  • Educate staff on regulatory standards, survey expectations, and compliance requirements
  • Monitor adherence to regulatory, quality, and risk management initiatives

Interdisciplinary Collaboration

  • Collaborate with Physical Therapy, Dietary, Activities, and Leadership to support coordinated, resident-centered care
  • Participate in interdisciplinary education, quality improvement, and performance initiatives

Quality Improvement & Performance Support

  • Support Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) activities
  • Identify trends, training needs, and opportunities for improvement
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and remediation to support staff competence and performance

Required Qualifications

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing
  • Minimum 3–5 years of clinical nursing experience, preferably in:
    • Personal Care
    • Memory Care
    • Assisted Living
    • Long-Term Care
  • Demonstrated experience in staff education, training, precepting, or staff development
  • Knowledge of healthcare regulations and survey processes
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to work flexible schedules to meet education and operational needs

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience as a Nurse Educator, Staff Development Coordinator, or Clinical Trainer
  • Experience working with dementia and memory support populations
  • Familiarity with adult learning principles and competency-based education models
