“We like to keep our residents busy. We have a great activities department, something is happening almost every hour here at The Park. They have that freedom to do as much as they want or not participate. We respect their rights. The other thing is that, again back to the service model, we have physicians here weekly. Podiatry services, hearing, eyes, (and) dermatology. So we have everything they would need brought in. With the doctors coming weekly, that’s a real comfort that the residents know that, “Hey, there’s still going to be a doctor in every week on Wednesday that I can see if I want to talk to them.” And also that the nurses have the ability to speak with the doctors if an emergency comes up, if they’re not feeling well. We can get through to the doctors right away and get them taken care of.”

Working with Gloria Dei Communities and specifically here at The Farms, I find it very rewarding. It’s an interesting place. It’s almost like I get to come into people’s homes everyday and give just them a little bit of help, a little bit of guidance, and little bit of friendship. No two days are alike by any means. But I have made many, many friends here, not only with the staff but the residents and their family. The residents and their family become almost family to me.
They say if you enjoy what you’re doing you’ll never work a day in your life, and I can honestly say the last four years I have truly enjoyed what I’m doing. I get a lot of joy out of helping others, supporting other folks, and just watching our community as it grows.
If you’re thinking at all about a different form of living, selling your home, and moving into a community; take the dive and come in for a tour. Let us show you, let you talk to some of our residents. We’d love to have you stop by and see. It might not be for you, but a lot of people who thought that came to us and tell us it’s the best move they’ve ever made. They’ve never been happier. They are just enjoying each day. It gives them a whole new lease on life. So we’d love to sit down and speak with you. Feel free to give me a call or my staff a call, and come in for a tour. We’d love to show you our facility and show you why we’re so proud of our home here at Gloria Dei Farms.

The Farms is our flagship community in the Gloria Dei network. We have many amenities here at the Farms. One of my my favorites is the swimming pool. We have an indoor swimming pool, which allows us to swim 365 days a year. It’s open to all the residents and their families. We also have a 35 seat movie theater, we have lovely patios and gardens, we have a walking trail which circles the entire Farms campus, gazebos there are several gazebos for folks to sit down and relax. Like I said, patios and garden areas, we have a Great Room with different events we hold, community type family style dinners we hold twice a month. We have a hunt room, which is where we hold our happy hour every Friday afternoon at 4:00, a hit with our residents. But I would say the biggest amenity we have is our people. Gloria Dei is a network of caring communities and the Farms is amazing the way the residents care for each other, keep an eye out for each other. I always tell people, “you can rent an apartment, but if you come to one of the Gloria Dei communities, you’re not only getting an apartment but you’re getting a great community of neighbors to boot!”

The process for folks to become residents at Gloria Dei Farms, we usually set up a tour with them. We’ll do a tour. It usually takes about an hour. We’ll show them the style they’re looking for, whether it be a one-bedroom, a two-bedroom, or a two-bedroom with den. We’ll show them an apartment that they’re interested in, give them a complete tour of the apartment, and after that we give them a tour of the entire community. We show them all the different amenities that we have here on The Farms campus.
After that we go back to the office and answer any questions you may have. And then there’s a small application to fill out, and a small deposit puts you on our waiting list. And when the apartment becomes available we contact you and at that point in time, I always tell folks they’re in the driver’s seat. They can take that apartment or they can wait for another apartment. The key to it is getting on our waiting list. We are blessed to work with a waiting list. We are a full community but with always openings coming up and the key to getting a residency here at Gloria Dei Farms is to get on our waiting list, and before you know it, your name comes up, and we’re calling with the good news of an open apartment.
