Gloria Dei Senior Communities celebrated the official ribbon cutting and dedication of its new state-of-the-art Alzheimer’s and dementia care facility, Memory Care at the Park, at a special event held on September 29, 2010 at the facility’s Hatboro location.

Over 150 invited guests and dignitaries attended the event to take part in the official ribbon cutting and dedication of the new 11,400 square foot facility located on Gloria Dei’s Hatboro campus that also includes Gloria Dei’s The Farms active retirement community and Luther Park assisted living community. Representatives for both Congresswoman Allyson Schwartz and State Senator Stewart Greenleaf read and presented official citations in honor of the dedication of the new facility along with a commemorative United States flag that had previously been flown over the Capital. Additional remarks were also made by Frank Johnson, retired President of Gloria Dei Communities, Susan Wright, current President of Gloria Dei, Vince Dattilo CEO of Gloria Dei, Kerry Brown of the Alzheimer’s Association and John Barrow, a member of the Luther Park family whose mother will be one of the first residents moving into the new facility. In addition to all of the evening’s activities, a very special presentation of a dedication plaque was made to Gloria Dei’s founder, Dr. Ernst Schmidt. The plaque will be installed in the entrance-way leading into the new Memory Care at the Park facility in Dr. Schmidt’s honor.

Vincent Dattilo, CEO of Gloria Dei Senior Communities commented, “The realization and dedication of this state-of-the-art Alzheimer’s and dementia care facility truly represents the very embodiment of Gloria Dei Communities’ mission and the vision of Dr. Ernst Schmidt to provide quality, affordable community living with an abundance of opportunities to find meaning and fulfillment for mature adults at all stages of their lives. Memory Care at the Park has been designed and built using the latest dementia care evidence and best practices in order to establish a new standard of care for people living with dementia. Memory Care at the Park is a very special place that weaves “person-centered care” into every operational aspect of the community and we believe represents a beacon of life, love and hope for those living with dementia and those that love them.”
